The Optimist Club of Raleigh supports the achievement of our
outstanding local youth in hopes that they will become outstanding civic leaders
in their communities.
Since 1957, Optimist Clubs have recognized youth for their talents
in the arts, athletics, academics, and for contributions to community.
Youth Appreciation Week provides one such opportunity
for this recognition.
This year the Optimist Club of Raleigh will celebrate Youth
Appreciation Week by
awarding a one-year $4,000 scholarship to Wake County high school seniors, based on
academic and extra-curricular accomplishments and level of community
involvement. This scholarship can be used at any accredited university,
college or trade/vocational school.
Scholarship postmark deadline is midnight, Thursday,
October 15, 2009 to ensure that completed
applications reach the Optimist Club of Raleigh on or before Monday, October
19. Applications received by the Club after October 19 will not be
processed.
The winning student and his/her parents and faculty advisors will
be honored at a Club luncheon during which the scholarship will be
presented.
